The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central in the Western Region, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has thrown her support behind Ing. George Kofi Arthur in his bid to become the next Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ms. Gyan Cudjoe has expressed confidence in the former Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, describing him as a formidable candidate with the experience, discipline and organisational capacity needed to strengthen the party and position it for future electoral victories.
She believes Ing. Kofi Arthur, who is contesting the regional chairmanship election with number two on the ballot paper, has the requisite leadership qualities to improve the party’s structures and deepen grassroots participation across the Western Region.
According to her, his experience in parliamentary and party politics, coupled with his commitment to accountability and effective administration, makes him a candidate party members can trust to lead the regional organisation.
Ms. Gyan Cudjoe has also highlighted his technological competence and understanding of grassroots mobilisation, arguing that these qualities would help build stronger and more sustainable institutional systems within the party.
She maintains that his leadership would provide an opportunity to strengthen the NDC’s organisational structures through inclusive participation, research, modern technology, transparent administration, member welfare and constructive engagement.
The Amenfi Central MP believes these priorities are essential to building a more effective regional party organisation capable of mobilising members and securing electoral victories in subsequent elections.
As campaigning intensifies ahead of the NDC’s Western Regional executive elections scheduled for November, Ms. Gyan Cudjoe has appealed to newly elected constituency executives across the region to rally behind Ing. Kofi Arthur.
She has urged executives in all 17 constituencies to support his candidature, emphasising the importance of electing a leader who can strengthen the party’s grassroots structures and promote effective coordination among the various levels of the organisation.
Her appeal comes at a crucial stage in the contest, as candidates seek to consolidate support among delegates ahead of the regional elections.
The support of constituency executives and other party delegates is expected to be an important factor in determining who emerges as the next regional chairman.
Ing. Kofi Arthur is among three candidates contesting the NDC Western Regional chairmanship position.
The incumbent chairman, Nana Kojo Toku, is seeking re-election to retain his position, while former Regional Vice Chairman Samuel K. Borlu is also in the race.
The contest is expected to determine the leadership of the party’s regional structure for the next term, with the candidates seeking the support of delegates through their respective campaigns and organisational plans.
For Ing. Kofi Arthur, the campaign is centred on strengthening party structures, promoting accountability and leveraging modern technology to improve administration and grassroots engagement.
Ms. Gyan Cudjoe’s endorsement adds to the support being mobilised for his candidature as the party prepares to elect its next regional executives.
The chairmanship contest forms part of the wider NDC Western Regional executive elections, which will see aspirants compete for various leadership positions within the party.
A total of 54 aspirants underwent vetting at the party’s regional office in Sekondi as part of preparations for the elections.
The outcome of the polls is expected to shape the party’s regional leadership and organisational direction as it works to consolidate its structures and prepare for future political contests.
With the November elections approaching, the contest among Nana Kojo Toku, Samuel K. Borlu and Ing. George Kofi Arthur is gathering attention, while party members and delegates consider the leadership qualities and organisational priorities each candidate brings to the race.
