President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to use the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha as a moment of reflection, sacrifice, compassion, and national unity.
Joining the Muslim community in Eid prayers, the President emphasized that the significance of Eid-ul-Adha extends beyond festivities and the ritual sacrifice of animals.
According to him, the occasion serves as a reminder of deeper values such as faith, humility, honesty, selflessness, and compassion for the less privileged in society.
Addressing worshippers, President Mahama urged citizens to embrace peace and tolerance while rejecting all forms of division, extremism, tribalism, and intolerance that threaten national cohesion.
He noted that Ghana’s long-standing reputation for religious harmony and peaceful coexistence among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds must be protected and strengthened for future generations.
The President stressed that the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha should inspire citizens to support one another, especially the vulnerable and underprivileged, while promoting unity and mutual respect across the country.
President Mahama also used the occasion to reaffirm his government’s commitment to rebuilding the economy and improving the living conditions of Ghanaians through targeted development initiatives.
He highlighted key areas of focus for his administration, including economic recovery, youth employment, skills training, STEM education, and infrastructure development in Zongo communities nationwide.
According to the President, empowering the youth and investing in underserved communities remain critical to national development and social progress.
“As we celebrate Eid-ul-Adha, let us reaffirm our commitment to the values of sacrifice, peace, compassion, humility, generosity, and national unity,” President Mahama stated.
He further extended warm Eid Mubarak wishes to the Muslim Ummah and all Ghanaians, expressing hope that the celebration would strengthen national solidarity and deepen the spirit of togetherness across the country.
