President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a two-day working tour of the Central Region beginning Friday, June 26, 2026, as part of his government’s #ResettingGhana agenda aimed at accelerating development and strengthening engagement with citizens across the country.
The tour, announced by the Central Regional Coordinating Council (CRCC), will see the President inspect ongoing infrastructure and social intervention projects, interact with residents and stakeholders, and assess developmental needs within various communities in the region.
According to the CRCC, led by the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the visit forms part of government’s broader efforts to improve healthcare, education, transportation, and other critical sectors while ensuring that development projects are progressing as expected.
The President’s itinerary covers several districts and municipalities across the region, with activities scheduled for Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2026.
On the first day of the tour, President Mahama is expected to begin activities at Assin Breku in the Assin North District at 11:00 a.m., where he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony for a major development project expected to enhance socio-economic growth in the area.
The President will later visit the Nyamedom Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound at 1:00 p.m. to inspect the healthcare facility and present Free Healthcare Kits as part of government’s efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery and improve access to quality medical services in underserved communities.
At 2:00 p.m., President Mahama will proceed to Polycamp Junction in the Cape Coast North Constituency to inspect the ongoing Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hostel Project.
The hostel project is expected to help address accommodation challenges facing teachers while contributing to improved educational delivery in the region.
The President will then move to the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) Municipality at 3:00 p.m. to inspect the ongoing Kafodzidzi–Aburansa Road Project.
The road project is anticipated to improve transportation and boost economic activities by facilitating easier movement of goods, services, and people within the municipality and adjoining communities.
As part of efforts to promote Ghana’s tourism and cultural heritage, President Mahama will conclude the first day of the tour with a visit to the historic Cape Coast Castle at 3:30 p.m.
The visit is expected to highlight the importance of preserving Ghana’s historical monuments and promoting the country’s rich cultural identity.
Activities on the second day of the tour will begin at 10:30 a.m. with an inspection of the Apam–Mumford–Hweda–Dago–Otuam Road Project.
The project is considered a major intervention aimed at improving road connectivity among coastal communities and stimulating economic growth along the stretch.
At 11:30 a.m., President Mahama will engage residents and stakeholders during a #ResettingGhana Citizens’ Engagement programme at the Mephiboseth Auditorium at Apam Junction.
The engagement is expected to bring together traditional authorities, civil society organizations, assembly members, youth groups, and members of the public to discuss government policies, development initiatives, and concerns affecting local communities.
The programme will also offer citizens the opportunity to directly interact with the President and provide feedback on governance and national development.
The President will conclude the two-day regional tour with an inspection of the Winneba Junction Underpass Project at 3:00 p.m.
The underpass project is expected to significantly improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, and support commercial activities along one of Ghana’s busiest highways.
The Central Regional Coordinating Council has called on chiefs, queen mothers, religious leaders, assembly members, youth groups, and residents across the region to actively participate in the activities and accord the President a warm reception during his visit.
The Council expressed optimism that the tour would further strengthen collaboration between government and the people while fast-tracking the implementation of developmental projects under the #ResettingGhana agenda.
