Members of the Minority Caucus have taken their outreach campaign to the Atebubu Market in the Bono East Region, where they are engaging directly with local farmers grappling with poor market access for their produce.

The visit, which forms part of an ongoing nationwide tour, saw the lawmakers interact with traders and farmers dealing in maize, yam, pepper, and other agricultural products.

Many of the farmers voiced strong concerns about the lack of buyers, a situation they say is leaving them with unsold goods and mounting financial losses.

According to the farmers, the absence of a reliable market has not only affected their incomes but also threatens their livelihoods, as large quantities of produce risk going to waste.

The Minority Caucus used the opportunity to assess the situation firsthand and assured the farmers that their concerns would be elevated to the national stage for urgent attention.

The group emphasised the need for practical interventions to improve market access, reduce post-harvest losses, and support local farmers.

The tour is expected to continue in other farming communities, as the Minority intensifies efforts to spotlight challenges within Ghana’s agricultural sector and push for policy responses to address them.
