The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has commenced the renovation of its headquarters in Accra ahead of the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration, following a donation from private firm 3Trees aimed at supporting the government’s efforts to improve public infrastructure.
The renovation project, which comes at no cost to the government, is expected to modernize and beautify the ministry’s headquarters as the country prepares to host this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebrations.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to officially receive the donation, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, said the initiative aligns with the government’s Brightening Ghana Agenda, a national campaign designed to encourage corporate institutions to partner with the state in renovating, modernizing and beautifying public facilities across the country.
According to the minister, the support from 3Trees is a clear demonstration of corporate social responsibility and the private sector’s commitment to Ghana’s national development agenda.

He commended the company for responding positively to the government’s call for stronger public-private partnerships, stressing that such collaborations are essential to improving public institutions while easing the financial burden on the state.
Mr. Opoku reaffirmed that agriculture remains the backbone of Ghana’s economy and continues to play a vital role in job creation, food security and national economic growth.
He also reiterated President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to transforming the agricultural sector through the Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda, a flagship initiative aimed at increasing agricultural productivity, improving farmers’ livelihoods, creating decent employment opportunities and strengthening food security across the country.
The minister noted that as preparations intensify for the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration, the facelift of the ministry’s headquarters will provide a more conducive working environment for staff while reflecting the importance government places on agriculture.
Marketing Manager of 3Trees, Violet Lin, said the company decided to undertake the renovation as part of its commitment to supporting Ghana’s agricultural sector and contributing to national development.
She explained that the company recognizes the critical role the Ministry of Food and Agriculture plays in driving the country’s agricultural transformation and believed the renovation would complement the government’s efforts to improve public institutions.

Ms. Lin expressed optimism that the project would strengthen collaboration between the private sector and government in advancing sustainable agricultural development.
The 42nd National Farmers’ Day will be hosted in Sunyani, the capital of the Bono Region, on Friday, December 4, 2026.
The celebration is centered on the theme, “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future,” and will be preceded by a five-day National Agricultural Fair from November 30 to December 4.
It is expected to bring together farmers, agribusinesses, policymakers and other stakeholders to recognize the contributions of farmers and promote innovation within the agricultural sector.
