The Twifo Atti-Morkwa District National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), in collaboration with Environmental Health officers, have launched a major crackdown on expired goods within the Twifo Praso Market.
The joint operation targeted retail stores and market centers to remove hazardous products and safeguard public health.
District NADMO Director, Mr. James Prah, stated that the exercise was a necessary intervention to halt the sale of tainted goods.
“Consuming these products poses serious health risks and can lead to severe illness,” Mr. Prah explained, noting that many items including beverages with 2024 and 2025 expiration dates remained on shelves despite being unfit for consumption.
The raid also uncovered a concerning trend where some traders were using expired products as “decorations” for their storefronts.

Mr. Prah condemned the practice, stating that aesthetic appeal should never take priority over community safety.
By the end of the operation, officers had retrieved over 350 packets of expired drinks and various cosmetic products.
Mr. Prah issued a stern warning to traders, affirming that NADMO and Environmental Health officers will maintain a consistent presence in the market.
Those found flouting safety laws will arranged before court to face legal consequences.
