The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the successful election of its new national executives at the party’s National Delegates Conference held over the weekend.
In a statement signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the governing party extended its congratulations to the newly elected NPP leadership and expressed hope that their tenure would contribute to the strengthening of Ghana’s democratic governance.
The NDC said it remained committed to promoting peaceful political engagement and democratic values, stressing that all political actors have a collective responsibility to protect and deepen the country’s democratic gains.
The NPP held its National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026, where delegates elected new national officers to steer the affairs of the party.
The election produced new leadership at a time when the NPP is preparing to rebuild and reposition itself following its defeat in the 2024 general elections and ahead of the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
The NDC, in its message, said political competition should not undermine the broader national interest, urging the new NPP leadership to contribute to an environment where Ghana’s development remains the primary consideration.
“It is the fervent hope of the NDC that under the tenure of this new crop of executives, there will be mutual effort to ensure that the interest of Ghana always surpasses the narrow interest of the two respective parties,” the statement said.
According to the governing party, such an approach would help advance the collective aspiration of building a stronger and more prosperous Ghana.
The NDC further emphasised the importance of responsible political engagement, particularly in a democratic environment where political parties play a central role in shaping national discourse and governance.
The party said the democratic gains Ghana has made over the years must be protected by all stakeholders, regardless of their political affiliation.
It therefore called for continued efforts by both the NDC and NPP to promote peaceful political participation and strengthen the institutions and values underpinning Ghana’s democracy.
The congratulatory message comes as the NPP begins a new chapter under its newly elected national executives, who are expected to lead the party’s organisational activities and preparations towards the 2028 elections.

The NDC expressed optimism that the new leadership of the NPP would work with other political actors in the national interest and contribute positively to Ghana’s democratic development.
