The legacy of the late Dr. Omane Boamah, Ghana’s former Minister of Defense, has been permanently etched into the landscape of Kwahu Obomeng.
In a moving tribute to his “selfless leadership,” the Obomeng Traditional Council has named the community’s newest Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center in his honor.
The announcement was made by the Omanhene of the Obomeng Traditional Area, Odeefour Nana Effah Opinamang III, during the 2026 Okwahu Easter festivities.
Speaking to 1960news.com, the traditional leader emphasized that the gesture aims to protect the memory of a man who, despite his high-ranking national office, never forgot his roots.

While Dr. Omane Boamah hailed from Koforidua-Effiduase, his familial ties to Kwahu Obomeng remained a cornerstone of his identity.
A heavyweight in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), his life was tragically cut short on August 6, 2025, following a helicopter crash in the Adanse Asokwa district of the Ashanti Region.
”Dr. Omane Boamah was an illustrious son of Obomeng who significantly spearheaded developments to enhance the community,” Nana Effah Opinamang III remarked.
“We are honoring him with this center to cement and protect his legacy.”
The facility is more than just a memorial; it is a functional hub designed to propel the youth of Obomeng into the digital age.
The ICT center is equipped with high-speed computers and research tools targeted at local students to elevate computer literacy and provide a space for academic research.
A “beaming statue” of Dr. Boamah stands at the facility, serving as a permanent reminder of the community’s affection for the late minister.
The commissioning of the center marks a bittersweet moment for the Eastern Region.
While the tragedy of the 2025 crash still lingers, the Traditional Council views the ICT center as a way to turn grief into growth.
By providing the next generation with the tools for technological advancement, Obomeng ensures that Dr. Boamah’s commitment to national development lives on through the success of its students.
