The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North Constituency, Theresa Lardi Awuni, is making progress on her commitment to improve road infrastructure in the constituency, with several inner-community roads being upgraded to asphalt and paved surfaces.
The projects, being pursued in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Highways and relevant road agencies, are aimed at improving transportation, easing movement within communities and creating a more conducive environment for local businesses to thrive.
The road upgrades form part of efforts to address longstanding challenges associated with rough and dusty roads in parts of the constituency, particularly in densely populated communities where residents and businesses depend heavily on the local road network.
According to the MP, improving community roads is essential to promoting economic activity, enhancing access to essential services and improving the general living conditions of residents.
Speaking during an inspection of ongoing road and drainage projects at Abofu and Alogboshie, the Assembly Member for the Abofu Electoral Area, James Aklogo, commended the MP for making infrastructure development a priority in the constituency.
He noted that the completion of asphalted roads would provide significant relief to residents and motorists who have had to contend with dusty and difficult-to-navigate roads.

Mr. Aklogo explained that properly surfaced roads would help reduce dust, minimise vehicle maintenance costs and make movement within the communities easier.
He further noted that improved roads would enhance residents’ access to local markets, health facilities and other essential services while creating better conditions for businesses operating within the communities.
While commending the progress of the projects, Mr. Aklogo appealed to residents of Alogboshie to take responsibility for protecting the newly constructed and ongoing road infrastructure.
He specifically cautioned residents against washing vehicles on the roads, spilling oil onto the road surface and cooking on the roads.
According to him, such activities could damage the road infrastructure and undermine the investment being made to improve transportation and the local economy.
He urged residents to adopt practices that would help preserve the roads and ensure that the projects serve the communities for many years.
Mr. Aklogo also appealed to residents to cooperate with contractors working on the projects to ensure their timely completion.
He encouraged community members to support the contractors and avoid activities that could obstruct construction works, stressing that cooperation between residents and the project teams would help ensure that the works are completed within the scheduled timeframe.
He said the successful completion of the projects would not only improve mobility but also contribute to the broader development of Abofu, Alogboshie and surrounding communities.
Some residents of Alogboshie who spoke during the inspection expressed their appreciation for the road improvements, describing the projects as a major relief to the community.
They thanked the MP and the government for responding to the infrastructure needs of the area and expressed the hope that the ongoing works would be completed as scheduled.
The residents said improved roads would make transportation easier, reduce the difficulties associated with dusty and poorly surfaced roads and provide a better environment for businesses and other economic activities.
The ongoing projects therefore represent a significant step towards improving the road network in Okaikwei North, with residents and local authorities expected to play a role in protecting the infrastructure once completed.
