Former Minister of Health and ex-Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Bernard Okoe-Boye, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Okoe-Boye said his decision comes after nearly two decades of active service to the party and a period of learning from its senior members.
He expressed confidence that the time is right for him to take up a leadership role aimed at revitalising the party in the region.
According to him, his vision is to restore the NPP in Greater Accra into a “responsible and efficient opposition party” that can effectively position itself for future electoral success.
He stressed the need for renewed energy and strategic direction to strengthen the party’s base and reconnect with the electorate.
Dr. Okoe-Boye further indicated that his leadership would focus on building a solid political platform capable of supporting the presidential ambitions of Mahamudu Bawumia.
He noted that unity and collective effort within the party would be key to achieving this goal.
He also highlighted broader national aspirations, stating that his leadership would contribute to aligning Ghana’s priorities with the needs of its people, while creating opportunities for the youth and ensuring security and stability for the elderly.
His announcement is expected to intensify competition for the regional chairmanship position as the NPP reorganises its structures ahead of future political contests.
