The Bono East Regional Police Command has arrested two men for possessing a large quantity of suspected cannabis without lawful authority following a patrol operation at Kintampo.
The suspects, identified as 42-year-old Sadic Wemah and 39-year-old Senbeti Karim, were apprehended on Saturday, April 26, 2026, at about 12:40 p.m. along the New Longoro–Weila stretch of the Kintampo–New Longoro road.
According to a police statement, the suspects were traveling in an unregistered white Toyota Highlander when officers from the New Longoro Police Station intercepted the vehicle during a routine patrol.
A search conducted on the vehicle revealed two sacks containing 166 parcels of dried plant material suspected to be cannabis.
The suspects were immediately arrested and transported to the Kintampo Divisional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigations.
During interrogation, the two men reportedly admitted ownership of the substance, confirming it to be cannabis.
They told investigators that the drugs were purchased from a supplier identified only as Edem, also known as “Confirm,” who is believed to transport cannabis from the Volta Region through Tamale.
The suspects further disclosed that they received the consignment at a filling station near the Kintampo new market and were transporting it to Banda Nkwanta in the Bono Region for sale.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is put at approximately GH¢107,000.
Police say both suspects remain in custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.
The retrieved exhibits, including the suspected cannabis and the unregistered vehicle, have been secured for evidential purposes.
The Bono East Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes, assuring the public that efforts are underway to arrest other individuals connected to the case, including the alleged supplier.
