The Northern Regional Police Command has launched investigations into the mysterious death of two women whose bodies were discovered in a hotel room in Tamale, prompting the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to deploy a special team from the National Police Headquarters to support the probe.
According to a press release issued by the Northern Regional Police Command on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the incident occurred at the Cab Hospitality Hotel, located in the Gbewa Residential Area of Tamale, where the bodies of the two females were found on Monday, August 3, 2026.
The Police said the discovery was made after the hotel management alerted officers about the situation. A police team immediately proceeded to the scene, where the lifeless bodies of the two women, believed to be nationals of Benin, were found inside one of the hotel’s rooms.
The bodies were subsequently conveyed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary for preservation and to undergo post-mortem examinations to establish the exact cause of death.
Police said preliminary investigations are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Investigators are also working to formally identify the deceased persons and liaise with the appropriate authorities to facilitate contact with their families.
In view of the seriousness of the case, the Inspector-General of Police has dispatched a special investigative team comprising experienced investigators, intelligence officers, and crime scene experts from the National Police Headquarters to assist the Northern Regional Police Command with the ongoing investigations.
The reinforcement is expected to enhance efforts to uncover the facts surrounding the incident and ensure a thorough and professional investigation.
