The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry has successfully negotiated a suspension of the scheduled price increase for sachet water.
This pause comes after rapid intervention by state officials to stabilize costs for the public.
Originally set to take effect today, Monday, April 6, 2026, the price adjustment was put on hold following high-level dialogues between the government and major industry stakeholders.
In an official release, the Ministry praised the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) and the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) for their willingness to prioritize consumer welfare and market consistency.
For now, the Ministry confirms that sachet water prices will remain at current levels, offering immediate relief to households across the country.
”This choice highlights our dedication to shielding consumers from sudden costs and keeping the marketplace steady,” the Ministry noted.
To find a long-term resolution to the industry’s rising operational hurdles, the Ministry has scheduled an emergency follow-up session with association leaders for Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The goal of this upcoming meeting is to develop sustainable strategies that support producers without placing an undue financial burden on the public.
The government reiterated its intent to maintain a close partnership with trade unions to ensure any future market shifts are managed smoothly and transparently.

SACHET WATER PRICE REMAINS UNCHANGED
The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry wishes to commend Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for their cooperation and suspending the planned price adjustment that was to take effect today, Monday, 6th April 2026.
This decision reflects our commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring market stability.
The Ministry, hereby, assures the public that the price of sachet water will not increase today. Consumers can continue to purchase sachet water at the current price.
On Wednesday, 8th April 2026, the Ministry will meet with the leadership of the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) to urgently address challenges facing the sector.
The Ministry remains steadfast in working with all Trade Associations to resolve issues swiftly and maintain stability in the market.
