Ghanaian dancehall musician, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale and his management have issued an official statement following the cancellation of ShattaFest UK, expressing deep sorrow over reports of a serious incident outside the event venue that reportedly left several people injured and others feared dead.
In a press statement released by the Shatta Movement Empire, management said the decision to cancel the highly anticipated concert was taken after receiving reports of the incident, stressing that the safety and well-being of fans remained the highest priority.
“It is with a very heavy heart that we address the unfortunate events surrounding SHATTAFEST UK,” the statement said.
According to management, what was expected to be a night of music, celebration, and unity instead turned into a heartbreaking situation, prompting organisers to halt the event.
The statement noted that while there had been reports of injuries and alleged fatalities, the team was awaiting official confirmation from the relevant authorities before making any definitive comments on the extent of the incident.
“Our hearts are with everyone who has been affected by this tragic situation. We are deeply saddened by the reports of injuries and the alleged loss of lives,” the statement read.
Management extended heartfelt sympathies to the individuals involved, their families, friends, and everyone affected, adding that their thoughts and prayers remain with the victims during the difficult period.
The statement described Shatta Wale as an artiste whose performances have always been centred on bringing joy, hope, and unforgettable experiences to his supporters around the world.
“To know that what was meant to be a night of celebration has become a moment of pain is truly devastating,” management stated.
The team also appealed to the public and the media to refrain from speculation while investigations continue, urging everyone to rely solely on verified information from the appropriate authorities.
“We respectfully ask the public and members of the media to avoid speculation while the appropriate authorities conduct their investigations. We trust that the truth will be established through the proper processes,” the statement added.
Shatta Wale’s management further expressed gratitude to emergency responders, security personnel, medical teams, venue staff, and all individuals who assisted those affected in the aftermath of the incident.
The statement also acknowledged the commitment of fans who had travelled from different parts of the United Kingdom and beyond to attend the event, thanking them for their patience and understanding despite the unfortunate circumstances.
According to management, Shatta Wale and the entire Shatta Movement family will fully cooperate with authorities and event partners as investigations continue to determine exactly what happened.
“This is not the outcome anyone wished for. Today, our focus is not on a concert—it is on the people whose lives have been affected,” the statement emphasised.
The management called for prayers for the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by the incident.
