The Ghana Police Service in the Atiwa West District has apprehended three suspects in connection with an armed robbery and the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to the Police Command, the primary suspect, Kingsley Kofi Antwi, was linked to a robbery in Akyem Asamama.
Intelligence gathered by the police identified Antwi as the individual who robbed a victim, Emmanuel Kingsford Agbo, of a significant quantity of gold at gunpoint.
During interrogation, Antwi admitted to the crime and named an accomplice, identified only as Francis, who allegedly provided the necessary intelligence on the victim and helped orchestrate the ambush.
Antwi reportedly used a locally manufactured single-barrel gun during the operation.
The suspect further revealed that after the robbery, the gold was stored in his accomplice’s room.
Later that day, the duo allegedly sold the gold to a buyer in Anyinam for GHC 70,000.00.
Police have successfully retrieved several items linked to the crime, including:
One black pump-action gun (recovered from a bush where it was hidden).
Two live BB cartridges and three empty BB shells.
A black face mask fashioned from socks.
A Tecno Camon 20 mobile phone and black jeans worn during the robbery and GHC 3,000.00 in cash.
Speaking to the media, the Atiwa West Police Commander, DSP Sheila Odoei, confirmed that the arrests were made on February 21, 2026, by a district taskforce patrol team near Asamama.
DSP Odoei assured the residents of Atiwa West that the Command remains committed to maintaining peace and security.
She urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately.
The three suspects are currently in custody and are being processed for court.
