Two people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road accident involving a commercial bus travelling from Accra to Salaga.
The incident occurred on Saturday April 25, near Kpando in the Volta Region after a tyre of the vehicle reportedly burst, causing the driver to lose control.
Eyewitness accounts suggest the vehicle veered off its lane following the tyre failure, leading to the fatal crash.
Several passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby health facilities for emergency treatment.
The Salaga station manager, Mr. Farid Dadieye, confirmed the incident in an interview with Salaga-based journalist Odehyieba.
He indicated that efforts are underway to support victims and their families.
Authorities are yet to release the identities of the deceased, while investigations are expected to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Road safety advocates continue to urge transport operators to ensure regular vehicle maintenance, particularly checking tyre conditions, to prevent such tragic incidents.
