The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of an 11-year-old girl, Blessing Innocent, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects have been identified as Kingsley Ozor, 40, an autobody sprayer, and his 19-year-old apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe.
According to a police statement issued by the Central East Regional Police Command on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, the incident occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The arrests followed investigations into a missing-person report lodged by the deceased’s mother with the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Gomoa Buduburam District Police.
The police said the report was received at about 12:40 p.m. on Monday, October 19, after the mother reported that her daughter had been missing since Saturday, October 17.
Preliminary investigations established that Blessing visited the two suspects, who are her neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on October 17.
The police said the suspects’ premises were the last place the girl was seen before her disappearance.
Following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident, officers arrested Ozor and Otaigbe on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
During interrogation, both suspects reportedly admitted that the deceased had been with them on the day she went missing.
The police statement further indicated that subsequent investigations led to the disclosure of circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
According to the police, Otaigbe allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually abused her.
The suspect reportedly realised that the girl had become lifeless during the incident.
The police said that following his alleged confession, Otaigbe led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath some shrubs.
Officers subsequently retrieved the body and conveyed it to the morgue at St. Gregory Catholic Hospital.
Arrangements are being made for an autopsy to be conducted at the Police Hospital to establish the cause of death.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
The Central East Regional Police Command commended the Gomoa Buduburam District Police for their efforts in tracing and arresting the suspects following the missing-person report.
The Command also assured the public that crimes of this nature would be dealt with swiftly to ensure that those found culpable face the full rigours of the law.
