The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, (YEA) Malik Basintale has paid an unannounced inspection visit to Uni-Jay Limited, one of the agency’s accredited master trainers, to assess the delivery of the YEA Skills Training Programme.
During the visit, the YEA CEO interacted with trainees and management, and observed practical training sessions firsthand to evaluate the quality of instruction and facilities.
The trainees at Uni-Jay Limited are among the 30,000 young Ghanaians currently undergoing skills training nationwide under the YEA Skills Training Programme.
Speaking to trainees, Malik Basintale encouraged them to take the training seriously, saying the programme is designed to equip them with industry-ready skills that will make them competitive in the job market and support their transition into sustainable employment.
The YEA Skills Training Programme is a flagship initiative of the Youth Employment Agency aimed at addressing youth unemployment through technical and vocational skills development.
Under the programme, 30,000 beneficiaries across the country are being trained in various trades including welding, carpentry, tailoring, ICT, beauty care, and other industry-specific skills. The training is being delivered through accredited master trainers and training institutions nationwide.
The initiative forms part of Government’s broader strategy to equip Ghanaian youth with practical, demand-driven skills, and to expand pathways to decent work and entrepreneurship. Beneficiaries are expected to complete their training and be linked to job opportunities or supported to start their own businesses.
The YEA has said it will continue with monitoring visits to ensure that master trainers adhere to approved standards and that trainees receive quality, hands-on training.
