The Mayor of Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Ebi Bright, has emphasized the transformative power of investing in women’s leadership, education, and economic opportunities.
In a video posted to her official Facebook account to mark the International Women’s Day 2026 under the global theme, “Give to Gain,” the Tema Mayor highlighted the undeniable societal benefits of empowering women and called for collective action to create a Ghana where women can thrive.
Ebi Bright, who is the first female mayor of Tema, reflected on the profound implications of the theme. She said “When women are given the opportunity to rise, families rise, communities rise, and nations rise.
Giving women access to education, leadership, and economic opportunities is not charity, it is a strategic investment in our collective future.”
Ebi Bright outlined the tangible gains that come from empowering women, noting that “When we give young girls the chance to dream, we gain innovation.
When we give women the space to lead, we gain progress. When we give equal respect and protection to every woman, we gain a stronger society,” she passionately declared.
She underscored the importance of trusting women with leadership roles, saying, “When women are trusted with leadership, we do not only rise, we lift communities with us.”
The Mayor used the occasion to advocate for concrete actions to promote gender equality, insisting that words alone are not enough.
“Let us commit ourselves, not just in words but in action, to building a Ghana where every woman has the support she needs to thrive. Because when we give to women, Ghana gains.”
Ebi Bright concluded her message with an uplifting tribute to the women of Tema and Ghana.
“Happy International Women’s Day. God bless the women of Tema, God bless the women of this nation, and God bless our Ghana.”
