The newly installed Development Queen Mother of Enyan Bedukrom-Kokwaado in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region, Nana Aba Kum I, has pledged to spearhead a new era of development by mobilising resources, attracting partnerships and implementing projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Speaking at her colourful coronation ceremony, Nana Aba Kum I assured the community that her reign would be defined by development, unity and social transformation, stressing that she is committed to leaving behind a lasting legacy through impactful interventions.
Addressing chiefs, queen mothers, opinion leaders, family members and residents, she described her installation as more than a traditional honour, saying it represented a sacred responsibility to serve the people with dedication and selflessness.
According to her, one of her immediate priorities is to transform Enyan Bedukrom-Kokwaado into one of the fastest-growing communities in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District by improving access to essential social amenities while creating opportunities for women and the youth.
She disclosed that she has already begun fulfilling that vision by constructing and commissioning a mechanised borehole to provide residents with a reliable source of potable water.
The project, she noted, is expected to ease the longstanding water challenges confronting the community.
Nana Aba Kum I emphasised that access to clean drinking water is fundamental to good health and socio-economic development, assuring residents that the borehole marks only the beginning of several projects she intends to undertake.
She further revealed plans to establish development initiatives through her foundation, focusing on education, healthcare, youth empowerment and programmes that improve the welfare of women and other vulnerable groups.
Recognising that community transformation requires collective effort, the Development Queen Mother appealed to non-governmental organisations, corporate institutions, philanthropists, private individuals and development partners to collaborate with her in implementing projects that would improve the socio-economic conditions of the people.
She also appealed to the Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam and Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, as well as the District Chief Executive, to support her vision by facilitating additional development projects for the community.
Expressing optimism about the future, Nana Aba Kum I said the combined support of government, traditional authorities and development partners would accelerate improvements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors.
The newly installed Queen Mother also called on residents to maintain peace and unity, stressing that sustainable development can only flourish in an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation.
She urged the youth, elders and all members of the community to put aside their differences and work together towards the shared goal of transforming Enyan Bedukrom-Kokwaado into a model community.
The coronation ceremony attracted several traditional leaders and dignitaries, who commended Nana Aba Kum I’s vision and pledged their support for her developmental agenda.
Speaking at the event, Nana Blay XI, Akwanyinhen of Ahanta West in the Western Region, praised Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson for what he described as the remarkable pace of development across the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency.
He particularly commended the government’s ongoing road infrastructure projects, especially the rehabilitation of the Mankessim–Ajumako–Agona Swedru road, describing it as a significant intervention that would boost transportation, trade and economic activities within the area.
Nana Blay XI appealed to the Finance Minister to continue supporting Nana Aba Kum I whenever she seeks assistance to implement projects aimed at improving the welfare of the people.
He also encouraged traditional leaders across the Central Region to offer guidance and support to the newly installed Development Queen Mother, expressing confidence in her ability to mobilise resources and champion transformational development.
The Paramount Chief of the Abeadze Dominase Traditional Area, Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, also called on residents of Enyan Bedukrom-Kokwaado to rally behind Nana Aba Kum I and provide her with the necessary support to achieve her development agenda.
According to him, peace, unity and cooperation remain the foundation of every successful community and urged residents to avoid actions that could create division or undermine progress.
Dasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII further appealed to members of Nana Aba Kum I’s family to stay away from chieftaincy disputes that could distract her from delivering on her responsibilities as Development Queen Mother.
He concluded by urging the entire community to uphold peace, respect traditional authority and work collectively towards the socio-economic transformation of Enyan Bedukrom-Kokwaado.
