National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has officially commenced his campaign to become the party’s National 1st Vice Chairman.
Nana B announced the start of his campaign after engaging party delegates and key grassroots stakeholders in the Ashanti Region, describing the region as the “heartbeat” of the NPP and the place that played a significant role in shaping his political journey.
According to him, the decision to begin the campaign in the Ashanti Region was deliberate, given the region’s longstanding contribution to the growth and electoral fortunes of the NPP.
He said his initial engagements covered 12 constituencies in the region, where he interacted with constituency party officers and other grassroots members to discuss the future of the party and his vision for the position.
Nana B said the enthusiasm and determination displayed by the constituency officers reinforced his belief that the NPP’s grassroots base remains committed to rebuilding the party and positioning it to return to power.
“I started from the Ashanti Region; the heartbeat of our party, the region that has given so much to the NPP, and the place that raised me,” he said.
He noted that his engagements provided an opportunity to listen to the concerns, aspirations and expectations of party members at the constituency level as the NPP prepares for its next phase.
Beyond the constituency engagements, Nana B also met with members of the Ashanti Regional Communications team, television and radio callers, as well as social media activists who support the party’s communications efforts.
He described these individuals as an important component of the NPP’s grassroots mobilisation and communications structure, noting that they continue to defend the party and promote its messages across various platforms.
“These are the men and women who defend the NPP every single day, on the airwaves, on the streets, and online,” he stated.
Nana B expressed appreciation for the reception and support he received during his engagements, saying he was humbled by what he described as a strong show of solidarity from party members in the region.
He said the interactions had strengthened his resolve to contest the position and contribute to the reorganisation and revitalisation of the NPP.
According to him, the party must focus on rebuilding its structures, energising its grassroots base and strengthening its internal organisation if it is to improve its electoral fortunes.
“The Ashanti Region has spoken in clear language; the journey to re-organize, to re-energize, and to lead the NPP to more victories begins now. And it begins at home,” Nana B said.
His campaign comes as the NPP prepares for internal elections to elect new national executives who will be expected to steer the affairs of the party and strengthen its structures ahead of future electoral contests.
Nana B, who currently serves as the party’s National Organiser, is expected to leverage his experience in grassroots mobilisation and party organisation as he seeks the support of delegates for the National 1st Vice Chairman position.
His campaign is likely to focus on strengthening constituency structures, improving grassroots mobilisation, enhancing communication among party stakeholders and positioning the NPP for future electoral victories.
The Ashanti Region, traditionally considered one of the NPP’s strongest political bases, is expected to remain a critical constituency in the party’s internal reorganisation efforts.
Nana B’s decision to launch his campaign there therefore signals the importance he attaches to the region and its delegates as he begins his nationwide campaign for the National 1st Vice Chairman position.
