The Ghana Education Service (GES) says preparations are far advanced for the reopening of Obuasi Senior High Technical School to continuing students following its temporary closure in August 2026.

In a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, the GES Management said efforts were underway to resume academic activities for the affected students, who have been away from school since August 5 following disturbances on the campus.

The Service assured the public that arrangements were being made for the students to return to school sometime next week.

According to the statement, first-year students have been attending school since September 18, when they reported for the academic year.

The planned reopening is expected to allow continuing students to resume their academic activities after the disruption caused by the campus disturbances.

The temporary closure, which took effect on August 5, affected continuing students, while first-year students subsequently reported to school in September.

However, the GES has not provided further details about the disturbances that led to the closure or outlined the specific measures being implemented ahead of the reopening.

The Service said it would communicate additional information to the public when necessary.

The planned return of continuing students marks a step towards restoring normal academic activities at the school after the disruption.
