A routine day at the Daavi Blessed Police Station turned into a scene of chaos when a massive swarm of bees attacked, leaving 41 people injured and several officers trapped for hours.
The attack occurred at the Gomoa Amoada Junction after a dormant beehive was inadvertently disturbed.
According to witnesses, the bees had established a hive inside a faulty tipper truck parked adjacent to the station.
When the vehicle’s owner opened the bonnet to inspect the engine, the agitated swarm erupted, targeting anyone in the immediate vicinity.
4 Police Officers were stung while on duty at the station while a mix of residents and passersby numbering 37 were caught in the fray.
The swarm killed at least three fowls in the area.
While most victims sustained minor to moderate injuries, one individual remains in critical condition and is currently fighting for his life at a local medical facility.
”One person is in critical condition and urgently needs medical attention, or he could die,” said Sakora Ahiadome, a victim who witnessed the escalation.
The aggression of the swarm was so intense that police officers were forced to barricade themselves inside the station for nearly three hours.
Trapped and unable to find a safe exit, the officers remained stranded and unable to perform their duties until the swarm eventually dispersed.
Ahiadome, who attempted to use a spray to ward off the insects, noted that the situation quickly became uncontrollable, forcing him to flee for his safety.
The incident has sparked a wave of concern among Gomoa East residents.
The Daavi Blessed Police Station has since resumed operations, though the community remains on high alert.
