The family and supporters of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known globally as Daddy Lumba, have announced a two-day “Celebration of Life” event to honor his unparalleled legacy.

The memorial is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Accra.

Daddy Lumba, who passed away on July 26, 2025, left a profound void in the African music industry.

This upcoming ceremony is designed to be more than a memorial; it is a dedicated space for fans and peers to reflect on a career that spanned decades and redefined the Highlife genre.

The event is expected to draw a massive gathering, including the Fosu family led by Akosua Serwaa and close relatives, fellow musicians and figures who worked alongside the legend.

Thousands of loyal supporters have also invited to participate in the memorial activities.

While the official itinerary remains under wraps, the “Celebration of Life” will follow a traditional yet vibrant format reflective of Lumba’s storied career.

Attendees can look forward to heartfelt tributes accounts from family and industry veterans on Lumba’s lasting impact, live renditions of his greatest hits to keep his spirit alive and memorial prayers, quiet moments of reflection, and dedicated sessions for the public to share their favorite memories.

”Lumba wasn’t just a singer; he was a storyteller who captured the soul of Ghana and this event ensures that his story never ends.”

Born in 1964, Daddy Lumba rose to prominence with a unique blend of Highlife, Burger-highlife, and contemporary sounds.

With over 30 albums to his name, his influence crossed generations, making him a household name both in Ghana and across the diaspora.

As the Greater Accra Region prepares for this historic weekend, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for the final confirmation of the specific venue within the capital.
