The Ekourna Royal Family has formally denounced the rumored removal of their Abusuapanin, Mr. Victor Kofi Owusu popularly known as “Tupac.”
The family has firmly rejected social media reports claiming the removal of their leader following a leadership dispute.
In a formal statement released on March 14, 2026, the family described the purported dismissal at Parkoso as a violation of sacred customs and legally void.
The family clarified that the installation or removal of an Abusuapanin is governed by strict Akan customary protocols.
According to the statement, no faction can unilaterally declare a change in leadership.
The family outlined three mandatory requirements for such a decision to be valid:
Presence of the Chief: The active participation of the Ekour Odikro.
Representation: A fair and balanced assembly of principal elders from all family sections.
Due Process: The resolution of any pending disputes by the revered Akyeame.
The family emphasized that since there are pending disputes and oath invocations, no party has the authority to take action until the Akyeame (Linguists) have heard and resolved the matters.
“Where disputes are pending, no party has the authority to take such action before the matter is heard and resolved by the appropriate traditional authorities,” the statement read.
The Ekourna Royal Family explicitly stated that Mr. Victor Kofi Owusu remains the legitimate and recognized Abusuapanin.
They urged the media and the general public to treat any contrary claims as misinformation intended to cause disaffection within the royal lineage.
