The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has closed the sale and collection of nomination forms for its 2026 National Officers Elections, with a total of 50 forms purchased across nine national officer positions.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC), in a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, said the nomination exercise had proceeded successfully and peacefully.
The Committee, chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah, said the closure of the nomination period marks the beginning of the next phase of the electoral process, which includes the filing of completed nomination forms, vetting and possible appeals.
Five aspirants have purchased nomination forms to contest the position of National Chairperson.
They are Paul Afoko, John Boadu, Boakye Agyarko, Sammy Crabbe and Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
The position of National Vice Chairperson recorded the highest number of aspirants, with 13 people purchasing forms.
They are Henry Nana Boakye, Kojo Fosu Boadu, Mustapha Abdul Hameed, Samuel Pyne, Richard Ahiagba, Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah, Alhaji Masawudu Osman, Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, George Kwabena Abankwah Yeeboah, Horma Miezah, Richard Oti Aboagye, Bright Esselfie Kumi and Nana Akomea.
Four aspirants have expressed interest in becoming the next General Secretary of the party.
They are Justin Kodua Frimpong, Eugene Boakye Antwi, Sylvester Tetteh and Charles Dwamena.
The National Treasurer position has also attracted four aspirants: Alfred Kojo Thompson, Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah, Tahiru Issahaku Moomin and Ahmed Ruka Saida.
Eight aspirants have purchased forms to contest the National Organiser position.
They are Glover Daniel Nii Kwartei, Salam Mustapha, Kwame Prempeh, Archibald Korletey Gamor, Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, Nana Kwadjo Agyei Yeboah, Daniel Agyenim Boateng and Ali Maiga Halidu.
For the National Women Organiser position, three aspirants have purchased forms: Mavis Hawa Koomson, Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada and Safia Mohammed.
Six aspirants are also in the race for National Youth Organiser. They are Clement Opoku Gyamfi, Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, Micheal Osei Boateng, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, Kumi Alfred Ababio and Abanga Fuseini Yakubu.
The National Nasara Organiser position has attracted five aspirants: Issaka Muazo Kunata, Salim Bamba, Razak Tahiru Maiga, Awal Mohammed and Mohammed Ali Suraj.
Meanwhile, the National Communications Director race has two aspirants — Dennis Miracles Aboagye and Evans Kodom.
The NOEC stressed that purchasing or collecting a nomination form does not automatically make an aspirant a valid nominee or candidate in the election.
According to the Committee, an aspirant will become a nominee only after properly filing the completed nomination form together with all required documentation within the prescribed period.
The filing of nominations begins on Sunday, August 23, and will close on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
The Committee said the party’s Secretariat has put in place arrangements for the orderly receipt, registration and secure custody of all nomination documents.
Following the close of filing, all nominees will undergo vetting by the duly constituted Vetting Committee.
The vetting exercise will run from Monday, August 31, to Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The schedule is as follows:
– Monday, August 31: National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer.
– Tuesday, September 1: National Vice Chairperson.
– Wednesday, September 2: National Organiser and National Youth Organiser.
– Thursday, September 3: National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC said specific times and other administrative arrangements for individual nominees would be communicated through the appropriate channels.
The Committee has also explained why it has not yet announced a date for the actual balloting.
According to the NOEC, the decision is deliberate and is intended to allow the filing, vetting and, where necessary, appeals processes to be completed before a final date is fixed.
The Committee explained that the final list of candidates cannot be determined until the vetting process and any resulting appeals have been concluded.
It noted that setting a balloting date prematurely could lead to postponement or suspension if an unresolved appeal affects the eligibility of an aspirant.
The NOEC has therefore retained flexibility in the election timetable and will announce a firm balloting date once the field of candidates has been sufficiently settled.
It assured all aspirants that they would receive adequate notice of the date, time, venue and procedures for voting.
The Committee further pledged that the balloting process would be conducted transparently, fairly and on an equal basis.
The NOEC expressed appreciation to all aspirants, their representatives, party officials, members of the media, security personnel and Secretariat staff for their cooperation during the nomination period.
It said the high level of interest in the various national officer positions demonstrates the continued commitment of party members to the organisation and its future.
As the process moves into the filing, vetting and appeals stages, the Committee urged aspirants and their supporters to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes unity, mutual respect and confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes.
The NOEC reaffirmed its commitment to administering the 2026 National Officers Elections with fairness, transparency and impartiality, while adhering strictly to the NPP Constitution and applicable election regulations.
