The Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Nurien Shaibu Megyimah, has reiterated his commitment to transforming the constituency through major investments in healthcare, education, security and infrastructure, while urging residents to set aside partisan politics and work together for the development of the area.
Speaking during the presentation of a large consignment of medical equipment to the Assin Fosu Municipal Health Directorate, the MP said his foremost responsibility is to improve the living conditions of the people by implementing sustainable development projects that will have a lasting impact on the constituency.
According to him, genuine progress can only be achieved when residents unite behind a common development agenda, regardless of their political affiliations.
“I am focused on the development of Assin Central. Let us put politics aside and work together to build the constituency we all desire,” he appealed.
Hon. Megyimah noted that when he assumed office, the constituency faced numerous challenges, particularly in healthcare, education, security and infrastructure. He said his office has since embarked on targeted interventions aimed at addressing these challenges and improving the quality of life of residents.
He explained that the donation of the hospital equipment forms part of his broader agenda to strengthen healthcare delivery by ensuring that health facilities are adequately equipped to provide efficient and quality medical services.
The items donated included theatre operating beds, recovery beds, labour beds, examination beds, office tables and chairs, weighing scales, cabinets, movable oxygen cylinders, notice boards, television sets, air conditioners, printers, generators, laptops, bed rests, children’s bedpans, body screens and several other essential medical supplies.
The MP further disclosed that several Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and other health infrastructure projects are currently under construction across the constituency and are nearing completion.
He expressed confidence that once completed, the facilities would significantly improve access to healthcare, particularly for residents in underserved and rural communities.
Hon. Megyimah also revealed that additional development projects are in the pipeline and appealed to constituents to continue supporting his efforts to accelerate the development of Assin Central.
He further urged health workers to take proper care of the equipment to ensure their longevity and enable future generations to benefit from the investment.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Assin Fosu Municipal Health Directorate, the Municipal Director of Health Services, Benjamin Amoako, expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament, describing the donation as a timely intervention that would help address critical equipment shortages across health facilities in the municipality.
Speaking to 1960 News, Mr. Amoako disclosed that many CHPS compounds, health centres and hospitals within the municipality have been operating with inadequate medical equipment, making healthcare delivery challenging.
He said the donation would significantly enhance service delivery, improve patient care and boost the morale of healthcare professionals working across the municipality.
Mr. Amoako assured the MP that the equipment would be distributed to facilities where they are most needed and properly maintained to ensure maximum benefit and durability.
He, however, appealed for further support in the areas of modern medical equipment, recruitment of additional health personnel and the expansion of health infrastructure, stressing that such interventions would further strengthen healthcare delivery and improve health outcomes for residents of Assin Central.
