Dennis Miracles Aboagye, a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, has reportedly been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) at the Accra International Airport (KIA) in Accra.
According to sources, the arrest is connected to an ongoing EOCO investigation into alleged corruption during Mr. Aboagye’s tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC).
Although the details of the allegations have not yet been made public, investigators are said to be examining activities and decisions taken during his time at the helm of the committee.
The circumstances leading to the reported arrest have also not been officially disclosed.
Mr. Aboagye, who has become one of the NPP’s leading media communicators, was reportedly picked up by EOCO officials at the airport as part of the agency’s ongoing investigations.
As of the time of publication, EOCO had not issued an official statement confirming the arrest or outlining the specific offences under investigation.
Likewise, Mr. Aboagye, his legal representatives, and the NPP leadership had not publicly commented on the development.
The reported arrest is expected to attract considerable political attention, given Mr. Aboagye’s prominent role within the opposition party and his previous service in government.
EOCO, Ghana’s specialised anti-corruption and organised crime agency, is mandated to investigate and prosecute economic and organised crime offences, including cases involving the alleged misappropriation of public funds.
The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge in the coming hours as EOCO provides updates on the case.
