The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has invested more than GH₵2.74 million over the past three years to support teachers and strengthen education across the constituency through her Teacher Support Initiative.
According to her, the programme began before her election to Parliament and was inspired by her belief that education is the foundation of national development and that teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of children.
The initiative forms part of her broader commitment to improving educational outcomes in Amenfi Central by supporting teachers, enhancing learning opportunities for students, and contributing to the constituency’s long-term human capital development.
The investment is aimed at supporting teachers, particularly those serving in underserved communities, with the objective of improving teacher retention, enhancing the quality of teaching and learning, and expanding access to quality education.
It also seeks to help reduce educational disparities between rural and urban communities by providing additional support to schools in deprived areas.
Beyond the monthly financial assistance to teachers, the initiative is expected to contribute to local development by promoting skills acquisition, including technical and STEM education, while helping to prepare young people for the demands of the modern workforce.
It also supports broader efforts to build human capital, improve productivity, reduce poverty and inequality, and encourage socio-economic development.
Under the initiative, GH₵76,200 is disbursed every month to provide financial support to teachers serving in various communities across Amenfi Central.
Figures released by the MP indicate that the initiative has so far invested more than GH₵2,743,200 in education, with 138 teachers receiving monthly support.
The programme has also benefited 8,829 students and provided assistance to 39 schools across more than 35 communities in the constituency.
Some of the teachers benefiting from the initiative include Vida Kyei, Francis Baah, Elijah Quayson, Badu Monica, Patience Ayeh, Obeng Richard, Lydia Sonful, and Ameyaw Joseph, alongside more than 130 other teachers.
The beneficiary schools include those at Chichiso, Akunkwanta, Amuni, Agona Camp, Anyinabrem, Bantoma, Akyemkrom, and Nyamebekyere, as well as more than 31 other schools across the constituency.
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe described the initiative as a long-term investment in the future of Amenfi Central, stressing that education should transcend partisan politics.
“Education is not about politics; education is about the future. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and become a leader tomorrow,” she said.
She noted that the initiative reflects her commitment to improving educational outcomes by motivating teachers and creating a conducive learning environment for students.
The MP reaffirmed her determination to continue investing in education and supporting teachers, describing the programme as a promise to the children and future generations of Amenfi Central.
The White for Education Initiative, which operates under the theme “Our Teachers. Our Schools. Our Future,” forms part of Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s broader vision of promoting quality education and sustainable human capital development throughout the constituency.
