The Eastern Regional Police Command says calm has been restored at Larteh Ahenease following disturbances recorded during the Odwira Festival celebrations on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
According to the Police, the incident disrupted the festivities and prompted the deployment of additional personnel to the town to strengthen security and maintain law and order.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 4, the Eastern Regional Police Command said the situation is currently under control, with enhanced security measures in place.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command has restored calm at Larteh, following some disturbances during the Ahenease Odwira Festival celebration on Saturday, October 3, 2026,” the statement said.
The Command has since increased its security presence in Larteh as part of measures to prevent further disturbances and safeguard residents, visitors and participants in the festival.
The Police said they are also engaging key stakeholders in the community as efforts continue to consolidate peace and stability in the area.
The Command urged residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the security agencies and refrain from actions that could undermine the peace.
It further warned that individuals who engage in conduct capable of disturbing the peace would be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
The Police did not provide further details on the nature or cause of the disturbances, nor did the statement indicate whether any arrests or injuries had been recorded.
The Eastern Regional Police Command said it would continue to monitor developments in Larteh and work with community leaders and other stakeholders to ensure that normalcy is maintained.
