Confusion is mounting within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Mfantseman constituency of the Central Region after more than 180 polling station coordinators announced plans to seek an injunction to halt the party’s upcoming constituency executive elections over what they describe as an unfair electoral process.
The aggrieved coordinators are protesting the decision to use the private residence of the incumbent Constituency Chairman, who is seeking re-election, as the official voting centre.
They have also raised concerns over the delayed release of the constituency’s certified delegates’ album, insisting that the situation undermines transparency and credibility.
Addressing a press conference at the NPP constituency office in Mankessim, spokesperson for the group, Mr. Eric Kwesi Baffoe, described the choice of venue as inappropriate and inconsistent with the principles of fairness expected in an internal party election.
According to him, the constituency has several neutral public venues capable of hosting the elections without raising questions about bias.
Mr. Baffoe questioned why party executives would approve the residence of a contestant as the polling centre, arguing that such an arrangement creates an uneven playing field and could erode delegates’ confidence in the outcome of the election.

He further noted that although the constituency executive elections are scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2026, delegates have yet to receive the certified electoral album needed to verify their eligibility before voting.
According to the group, several polling station coordinators have reported missing names and other discrepancies in the provisional register, making it impossible for affected delegates to confirm their voting status ahead of the election.
The coordinators warned that unless the venue is changed to a neutral location and the delegates’ album is released and independently audited, they will boycott the election and proceed to court to seek an injunction to stop the exercise.
Some members of the group also expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the current constituency executives, accusing them of taking decisions that could deepen divisions within the party instead of promoting unity ahead of the elections.
They maintained that conducting an election at the home of an incumbent candidate is unacceptable and contrary to the principles of internal democracy, transparency and fairness that the party seeks to uphold.
The group further warned that they would resist any attempt to proceed with the election under the current arrangements and reiterated their demand for an independent audit of the delegates’ register to restore confidence in the electoral process.
The aggrieved coordinators are therefore appealing to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP to intervene immediately by relocating the voting centre to a neutral venue, releasing the verified delegates’ album, and ensuring that the constituency elections are conducted in a free, fair and transparent manner.
They cautioned that failure to address their concerns could heighten tensions within the constituency and disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections.
