A 25-year-old Community Police Assistant stationed at Ajumako Bisease in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region is currently receiving treatment after he was allegedly stabbed by a suspected criminal during an attempted arrest.
The victim, identified as Obed Fynn, sustained serious injuries during the incident, which has sparked fear and concern among residents of the community.
According to information gathered indicates that, the incident occurred when the young officer reportedly heard a commotion from a section of the town and quickly rushed to the scene to find out what was happening.
Upon arriving at the area, Obed Fynn allegedly identified a man known only as Yaw, who had reportedly been declared wanted by the Ajumako Bisease Police in connection with suspected criminal activities in the community.
Eyewitnesses said the Community Police Assistant attempted to arrest the suspect, but the situation suddenly turned violent.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed the officer.
The suspect reportedly fled immediately after the attack, leaving the victim bleeding heavily at the scene.
Some residents who witnessed the incident quickly came to the aid of the injured officer and rushed him to the Ajumako Bisease Polyclinic for emergency treatment.
Medical personnel at the facility are said to have stabilized his condition, and he is currently responding to treatment.
The shocking incident has heightened tension and fear within the community, with many residents expressing concern over the increasing security threats in the area.
Some community members have called on the Ghana Police Service to intensify efforts to track down the suspect and strengthen security measures to protect both residents and law enforcement personnel.
