The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the activation of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) online portal for the capturing and uploading of candidates’ school selection data ahead of the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise.

According to a directive issued by the GES Headquarters on Monday, August 24, 2026, the WAEC portal will be available from Monday, August 24, to Thursday, August 27, 2026, to enable Junior High School (JHS) authorities to capture and submit the school choices of eligible candidates.

The directive, signed by the Director of the Schools and Instructions Division (Secondary), Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, on behalf of the Director-General of the GES, was addressed to all Regional Directors of Education for onward communication to schools and relevant officials.

The Service said the exercise forms part of preparations for the 2026 placement exercise, following an earlier communication dated August 18, 2026, on the activation of the platform for capturing school selection data.

The GES has directed headteachers who have not yet completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal for pre-testing to do so by the close of work on Monday, August 24, 2026.

After completing the CSSPS pre-testing process, the schools are required to proceed to capture and upload the candidates’ school selection data on the WAEC portal within the specified period.

The WAEC portal for the exercise is available at www.casswaecinternetsolution.org.

The directive is intended to ensure that the school choices of eligible candidates are accurately captured and submitted ahead of the 2026 placement process.

The GES has also highlighted a feature of the WAEC portal that is expected to help schools with large numbers of candidates complete the exercise within the limited timeframe.

According to the Service, the portal allows the same school identification (ID) and password to be used simultaneously on multiple computers.

This means schools with large numbers of candidates can have several officers working on the data capture process concurrently, potentially speeding up the completion and submission of the required information.

The GES said the facility was provided to facilitate the timely and efficient completion of the exercise.

Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been directed to closely supervise and monitor the process.

They are expected to ensure that the data of all eligible candidates are properly captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated deadline.

The GES stressed the need for accuracy in the process, as the information being captured will form part of the data used in the 2026 school placement exercise.

Regional Directors of Education have also been tasked with communicating the directive to all relevant stakeholders within their jurisdictions and ensuring strict compliance.

The latest directive places responsibility on school authorities and education officials to complete the data capture process within the four-day window, with the WAEC portal scheduled to close for the exercise on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

The development marks another key stage in preparations for the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise, which will determine the second-cycle institutions into which successful Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates will be placed.
