The government has issued a stern condemnation following a drone attack near Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, which left two Ghanaian nationals injured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration confirmed the incident after receiving briefings from authorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
While the specific nature of the drone’s origin remains under investigation by Emirati officials, the government has described the event as a serious threat to civilian life and international infrastructure.
In a swift diplomatic response, Ghana’s Ambassador to the UAE led a joint delegation from the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai to visit the victims.
Both individuals are currently receiving medical treatment in a Dubai hospital
Officials have stated that the injuries are not critical, and a full recovery is expected soon.
The government is providing ongoing consular assistance to the victims and their families.
”The Government of Ghana expresses its concern over the incident and conveys its thoughts to the injured individuals and their families,” the Ministry stated in a press release, urging the public to remain calm while investigations continue.
The Ministry used the platform to reiterate Ghana’s commitment to the safety of its diaspora.
Beyond immediate consular care, the government is pushing for broader international intervention to prevent such escalations.
Ghana is actively supporting ongoing discussions within the United Nations to pass a resolution for the cessation of hostilities in the region.
The Ministry is also maintaining “heightened leadership” across its diplomatic missions to monitor the safety of Ghanaians abroad.
