Staff of the Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) on Friday July 10, joined the nationwide National Clean-Up Exercise, demonstrating the company’s commitment to environmental sanitation, public health and sustainable community development.
Employees at the company’s headquarters in Accra and operational sites across the country actively participated in the exercise by sweeping streets, weeding, cutting overgrown grass, clearing curbs and desilting drains within and around their work environments.
The exercise formed part of the National Clean-Up Campaign launched by President John Dramani Mahama under the theme, “Our Action, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana After the Floods.”
The campaign seeks to restore clean and healthy communities following the recent floods that affected parts of the country while encouraging citizens to take collective responsibility for protecting the environment.
At the Ghana Gas Head Office, the sanitation exercise was graced by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Dumelo, who joined the company’s management and staff in cleaning the surrounding environment.
His participation underscored the importance of collaboration between public institutions, corporate organizations and political leaders in promoting environmental cleanliness.
Management of Ghana Gas said the company’s participation in the nationwide exercise reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting national initiatives that promote environmental sustainability, improve public health and enhance the quality of life in communities where it operates.
The company further called on Ghanaians to adopt proper sanitation practices and make cleanliness a daily responsibility rather than an occasional activity.
It stressed that maintaining clean surroundings is essential in preventing disease outbreaks, reducing flooding caused by choked drains and creating healthier communities.
The nationwide clean-up exercise forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen environmental sanitation across the country following recent flooding incidents.
The initiative also seeks to instill a culture of shared responsibility among citizens, institutions and corporate bodies in safeguarding the environment.
Ghana Gas’ participation adds to the growing number of public and private institutions supporting the national campaign, highlighting the importance of partnerships in achieving a cleaner, safer and healthier Ghana.
