The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced a series of digital learning interventions aimed at expanding access to quality education for students in underserved communities across Ghana.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament while answering questions from Members of Parliament, the Minister disclosed that the Ministry of Education, through the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), is intensifying efforts to improve digital learning opportunities across the country.
According to him, the interventions include the expansion of the iBox learning platform, the deployment of interactive educational technology tools, and the introduction of offline learning systems for schools located in areas with limited or no internet connectivity.
Hon. Iddrisu explained that the iBox system is already making a significant impact in the education sector, currently supporting more than 120,000 students in about 240 Senior High Schools nationwide.
He noted that the Ministry is also rolling out additional digital education initiatives designed to improve students’ digital literacy, strengthen classroom teaching and learning, and better prepare candidates for national examinations.
The Education Minister stressed that the interventions form part of government’s broader commitment to bridging the digital divide in the country and ensuring equal access to educational opportunities for all learners, irrespective of their geographical location.
He emphasized that technology-driven education remains a key pillar in Ghana’s efforts to modernize the educational system and equip students with the skills needed to thrive in the digital age.
Hon. Iddrisu further indicated that the government remains committed to investing in innovative educational solutions that will enhance learning outcomes, particularly for students in remote and disadvantaged communities where access to quality educational resources has traditionally been limited.
The latest announcement is expected to boost ongoing efforts to integrate technology into Ghana’s educational system while promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities across the country.
