The High Court of Accra has issued an interlocutory injunction effectively halting the highly anticipated “Celebration of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba)” event, which was scheduled to take place this weekend.
This legal blow follows an application by Baba Jamal & Associates, representing Abusua Panyin Victor Kofi Owusu (also known as Abusua Panin Tupac), Head of the Ekuana Royal Family of Parkoso and Nsuta.
The order was successfully sought to protect the interests of the family.
The court order specifically names several individuals who are now legally barred from proceeding with the event:
Nana Yaw Akosa (popularly known as Papa Shee),
Akosua Serwaa Schindler (Fosuh), Ernestina Fosuh (Brempomaa) and Wofa Yaw Poku.
The injunction extends to their agents, assigns, and any venue providers associated with the planning of the gathering.
The “Celebration of Life” was slated for Saturday, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Independence Square in Accra.
Under the new court ruling, organizers are strictly prohibited from hosting the event at the Square or any other location.
In a stern press release, Fati Ali Yallah Esq. of Baba Jamal & Associates warned that any attempt to defy the court’s decision would be met with swift legal action.
”The organizers, venue providers, and active participants are hereby cautioned that defying this order constitutes Contempt of Court, which is punishable by law,” the statement read.
While the legal battle intensifies, the Ekuana Royal Family has appealed for calm. Legal representatives emphasized the need for “peace and respect for the family and the children” during this sensitive period.
The firm further noted that they would not hesitate to initiate committal proceedings against any individual seeking to undermine the sanctity of the Court.
