The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has called on contractors, investors, developers, financial institutions and businesses to consider the constituency when seeking government projects and investment opportunities.
She said Amenfi Central has significant infrastructure needs in roads, education, healthcare, electricity, telecommunications, water and sanitation, agriculture, housing, markets and government services.
Mrs Gyan Cudjoe stressed that her appeal is not a call to bypass public procurement laws but for companies to identify eligible projects in the constituency and present proposals through the appropriate government institutions.
“If you are looking for a government project in Ghana, look at Amenfi Central,” she said.
The MP said her office has identified 38 priority road projects covering approximately 411.5 kilometres across the constituency.
Among them are the 55-kilometre Humgebire (Gate)-Juabo-Wuraterm-Wassa Akropong road, the 52.4-kilometre Pensanom-Obeng-Anakum-Amuni-Dwirigum-Fuleso road and the 34-kilometre Manso Amenfi-Adidaase-Aku Nkwanta-Antobam-Akyeakrom route.
Other identified roads include Wuraterm-Ankasie-Agona Amenfi, Agona Amenfi-Jedua Kesse, Nkwanta No. 2-Guabase-Ampontengkrom-Juabo, Ankasie-Donkorkrom-Jeda Asamang and Agona Amenfi-Bredi-Nyinanyin.
She urged road contractors to engage the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Feeder Roads and other relevant authorities through the established procurement processes.
According to Mrs Gyan Cudjoe, education remains a major area of need, with opportunities for the construction and expansion of KG, primary, JHS and SHS facilities.
She also identified dormitories, dining halls, kitchens, assembly halls, science and ICT laboratories, STEM facilities, libraries, teachers’ accommodation, school water and sanitation systems, fencing and sports facilities as areas requiring attention.
She said Amenfi Central could also benefit from expanded TVET and professional training infrastructure, including teacher-training and nursing and midwifery facilities.
In the health sector, she listed CHPS compounds, health centres, hospitals, maternity units, children’s wards, emergency units, laboratories and diagnostic centres among potential projects.
Other needs include accommodation for health workers, medical waste facilities, water and power systems, and the rehabilitation and expansion of existing facilities.
The MP said about 40 communities have been identified as requiring electricity-related interventions.
She called for grid extensions, transformers, distribution networks, connections and renewable-energy projects, including solar power and street lighting.
She also said 47 locations had been identified as requiring telecommunications attention.
Telecom and technology companies, she said, could explore new network towers, 4G coverage, internet infrastructure, community ICT centres and connectivity for schools and health facilities.
Mrs Gyan Cudjoe further identified opportunities in water and sanitation, including boreholes, mechanised water systems, small-town water projects, public toilets, drainage, flood-control works and waste-management facilities.
She also encouraged investors to explore Amenfi Central’s agricultural potential through warehouses, storage facilities, agro-processing, irrigation, mechanisation, cold storage and agricultural technology.
In the commercial sector, she identified modern markets, stores, warehouses, business centres and community trading facilities as potential investment areas.
Real estate opportunities, she added, include affordable housing, workers’ accommodation, student hostels, commercial buildings, hotels, shopping centres and mixed-use developments.
Mrs Gyan Cudjoe also appealed to banks and financial institutions to expand their presence in Amenfi Central through branches, agencies or service points.
She said improved access to financial services would support farmers, contractors, traders, mining businesses, entrepreneurs, developers and other businesses operating in the constituency.
She mentioned GCB Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, National Investment Bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Development Bank Ghana, Ghana EXIM Bank, rural and community banks, private commercial banks, savings and loans institutions and fintech companies as potential participants.
Given the constituency’s mining activities, the MP also called for strengthened government presence in areas including mining regulation, environmental protection, mining safety, land administration, geological services and small-scale mining support.
She said bringing relevant government services closer to mining communities would reduce the distance residents travel to access essential services.
She further proposed government service centres covering areas such as business registration, revenue, agriculture, health, education, employment, youth development, environmental services, disaster management and digital government services.
Mrs Gyan Cudjoe stressed that Amenfi Central needs multiple credible companies across different sectors rather than a single contractor handling all projects.
“One company can work on roads. Another can build schools. Another can build health facilities. Another can work on electricity. Another can provide telecommunications infrastructure. Another can build water systems,” she said.
She said companies could similarly participate in market development, housing, agriculture, ICT and financial services.
The MP said her appeal is opened to Ghanaian, African and international companies with the financial capacity, technical expertise, equipment and qualified personnel to execute projects.
She emphasised that contractors would not need personal connections to her or her office.
“You do not have to know the MP. You do not have to have met my office before. You do not have to be personally connected to me,” she said.
She urged interested companies to use the appropriate government procurement and approval processes when pursuing projects in the constituency.
“We are not asking for favours. We are asking for Amenfi Central to be considered,” she said.
According to Mrs Gyan Cudjoe, the objective is to connect the development needs of the constituency with credible companies seeking opportunities to execute projects.
“Our communities need the development. Your company needs projects. Let us connect the two through the proper government processes.”
She maintained: “Amenfi Central is open for development.”
