The Member of Parliament for Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has promised traders in the municipality, especially those at Elubo who share a border with Côte d’Ivoire, a massive economic turnaround.
The MP, who is also the Deputy Transport Minister, said women in particular are the housekeepers, and as such, the 24-hour market will help them keep to their household duties.
Madam Affo-Toffey made this promise when, together with the municipal chief executive, Benedict Boadi; NDC constituency executives; the president of the Western Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Kwasi Armachie III; and the people of Jomoro, she cut the sod for the construction of the flagship 24-Hour Economy Market Project at Elubo.
She said, “This landmark project is a clear demonstration of the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama and the government to delivering jobs, expanding economic opportunities, and transforming communities through the 24-Hour Economy agenda.”
“We share a border with Côte d’Ivoire. It will expand Elubo and bring more jobs. ” It is a game changer that is expected to bring about more developments,” the MP added.
The MP said the market is a mini one which was built in Kumasi’s Kejetia Market.
“It’s an ultra-modern market with facilities such as day care, a women’s bank, a clinic, and fire service,” among others.
The President of the Western Nzema Traditional Council, Awulae Kwasi Armachie III, advised residents to unite and support the project.
“We should put aside the litigation and look for development for Jomoro and Ghana. Litigation is unhelpful because many people have already experienced litigation’s ineffectiveness, so we must unite and support this development agenda.
