Three people have lost their lives following a tragic road traffic accident at Yikurigu in the Zebilla Municipality of the Upper East Region on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The fatal collision involved a Yutong VVIP passenger bus and a Toyota Ciana saloon car along the busy Bolgatanga–Zebilla–Bawku highway, a major transport corridor in the region.
According to preliminary reports, the Yutong VVIP bus was travelling from Bolgatanga towards Bawku, while the Toyota Ciana was heading in the opposite direction towards Bolgatanga when the two vehicles collided under circumstances that are yet to be established.
The impact of the crash proved devastating for the occupants of the Toyota Ciana. Three people, a man, a woman, and a child died instantly at the scene.
Their identities have not yet been officially released pending notification of their families.
Meanwhile, three male occupants of the Yutong VVIP bus, including the driver, sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Emergency responders transported the injured victims to the Zebilla Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
