A businessman and staunch supporter of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Akompreko Agyapong, has appealed to party faithful to promote unity and avoid personal attacks as internal political discussions intensify.
In a press statement copied to the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, Eric Kwesi Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of Penyman Group Limited, openly declared his continued support for Kennedy Agyapong, describing him as both a political inspiration and business mentor.
According to Mr. Taylor, his admiration for the outspoken former Assin Central Member of Parliament is rooted in the businessman-politician’s entrepreneurial achievements, courage in national discourse, and commitment to youth empowerment.
“I admire and seek to learn from his entrepreneurial skills, business acumen, and ability to build successful enterprises,” he stated.
He further praised Kennedy Agyapong for his role in promoting entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for young people, saying that his boldness and willingness to address national issues, even when unpopular, make him a unique political figure within the NPP.
Despite his strong support, Mr. Taylor clarified that backing Kennedy Agyapong does not mean endorsing every statement or action associated with him.
“Like every human being, he has strengths and weaknesses. I choose to focus on the qualities that inspire hope, encourage hard work, and contribute to national development,” he noted.
The statement comes at a time when internal tensions and heated exchanges among supporters of Kennedy Agyapong and other former contenders within the NPP are increasingly visible on social media and party platforms.
Mr. Taylor therefore urged the youth wing and communicators of the NPP to avoid insulting or attacking senior party figures, including Kennedy Agyapong, over differing political opinions.
He stressed that the party has enough experienced leaders, former presidential aspirants, executives, and elders capable of addressing disagreements through dialogue and internal mechanisms.
“I respectfully urge senior members of the party to discourage personal attacks and insults, whether they come from communicators, supporters, or social media personalities,” he emphasized.
He added that healthy political discourse should focus on issues and policies rather than personal insults, warning that internal hostility could undermine party cohesion ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Touching on the future of the NPP, Mr. Taylor argued that electoral victory in 2028 would depend not only on campaign messages but also on how party members engage with communities at the grassroots level.
According to him, initiatives centered on job creation, youth development, women’s empowerment, volunteerism, and community service would help rebuild public confidence and strengthen the party’s image.
He also underscored the importance of maintaining Kennedy Agyapong’s active involvement in the affairs of the party, describing the former lawmaker as a political asset with significant grassroots appeal both within and outside the NPP.
“I therefore appeal to him to remain focused on the bigger picture, set aside past grievances, and continue contributing to the growth and success of the party we all cherish,” the statement added.
Mr. Taylor expressed appreciation for Kennedy Agyapong’s contributions to national development and the NPP, expressing hope that history would ultimately recognize his leadership and service.
