The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media that former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya,Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s property at Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
In a statement issued by the church leadership, the Mission described the reports as “false and misleading” and called on the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims while investigations continue.
According to the statement, the incident occurred shortly after a lawful church event had been held on the premises.
The church alleged that Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and “forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates” of the property, causing significant damage to two metallic gates.
The Mission stated that many worshippers and invited guests were present at the time, including some seated close to the entrance, creating what it described as a dangerous situation that could have endangered lives and property.
“Had the gates completely collapsed or had the vehicle proceeded beyond the entrance, the safety of attendees could have been gravely endangered,” the statement noted.
Church leadership further explained that security personnel on duty intervened in an effort to prevent the situation from escalating and to ensure the safety of persons gathered for the event.
The statement also addressed widespread reports suggesting that Adwoa Safo had been shot during the incident, allegedly by her own brother.
The church dismissed those claims outright, insisting that, based on information available to them, no shooting took place.
“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading,” the statement said, adding that any portrayal of Adwoa Safo as a gunshot victim appeared to be an attempt to create a false impression about the incident.
The Kristo Asafo Mission has therefore called on the relevant state authorities to conduct a “thorough and impartial investigation” into all aspects of the matter in order to establish the truth.
The church also appealed to the public to exercise restraint and avoid drawing conclusions from social media narratives until law enforcement agencies complete their investigations.
The leadership reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to peace, truth, the rule of law, and the safety of all persons who attend its events.
The incident has since generated widespread public attention and heightened debate on social media, with many awaiting official findings from security agencies regarding what transpired at the church premises.
