The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, together with the Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) Rashid Tanko-Computer, undertook a monitoring tour of selected One Million Coders Programme training centres on May 20, 2026, in the Greater Accra Region as part of Government’s commitment to Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
The delegation visited the Accra College of Education Centre in Ayawaso West, the Gbegbeyise JHS Centre in Ablekuma West, and the Mamprobi Community Information Centre (CIC) in Ablekuma South, where participants are receiving training in digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-related courses under the flagship programme.

The tour formed part of efforts by the Ministry and GIFEC to assess the implementation of the programme, interact with trainees and facilitators, and ensure the smooth operation of the training centres.
During the engagements, Hon. Samuel Nartey George encouraged participants to remain committed to the programme and complete their courses, reiterating Government’s vision of equipping over one million Ghanaians with digital and AI skills by 2028.
He also highlighted the role of international partnerships in providing participants with access to globally recognised digital courses and certifications at no cost.

The Minister commended the enthusiasm shown by participants, including young people and professionals pursuing skills in Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, Software Development, and E-commerce. He further noted that the programme is inclusive, with people from different age groups actively participating. The respective Members of Parliament for the constituencies visited joined the engagements and praised the positive impact the programme is already making within their communities.
Samuel Nartey George also disclosed that Government is collaborating with industry stakeholders and the Business Outsourcing Association of Ghana to create remote work and outsourcing opportunities for graduates of the programme.

The One Million Coders Programme remains one of Government’s key initiatives aimed at equipping citizens with practical digital skills and preparing Ghana’s workforce for opportunities within the global digital economy.
Also accompanying the Minister were the Deputy Administrator of GIFEC and Member of the One Million Coders Implementation Committee, Mrs. Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah, and the Director of Corporate Affairs at GIFEC, Ms. Francisca Adjei.
