The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects over their alleged involvement in representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leijdekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos”, in Ghana.
According to NACOC, the arrests form part of ongoing investigations into an international drug-trafficking network allegedly connected to Leijdekkers.
The Commission announced the arrests in a statement dated Monday, September 14, 2026, following the reported seizure by French customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly linked to the wider network.
NACOC said the three suspects are currently in its custody and are assisting investigators as authorities examine their alleged roles in the trafficking activities.
The Commission did not disclose the identities of the suspects or provide details about the quantity of cocaine reportedly seized by French customs.
It also did not indicate the specific circumstances surrounding the arrests or the alleged nature of the relationship between the suspects and Leijdekkers.
The arrests, however, signal an intensified effort by Ghanaian authorities to investigate suspected links between local actors and international drug-trafficking organisations.
NACOC reaffirmed its determination to prevent Ghana from being used as a safe haven, transit point or operational base for international drug-trafficking organisations.
The Commission said it would continue working with domestic and international law-enforcement partners to disrupt the individuals, financial networks and infrastructure that support the illicit drug trade.
The latest operation also highlights the growing importance of cross-border cooperation in tackling international narcotics trafficking, particularly where suspected criminal networks operate across multiple jurisdictions.
While announcing the arrests, NACOC stressed that the suspects remain under investigation and that their legal rights and protections would be safeguarded throughout the process.
The Commission said its enforcement efforts would focus on dismantling the networks behind illicit drug trafficking while ensuring that all persons under investigation are treated in accordance with the law.
