The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National First Vice Chairman of the party ahead of its internal elections.
In a statement addressed to party executives, elders, patrons and members of the NPP, Nana B said his decision was driven by a deep sense of duty and a desire to help reposition the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.
The seasoned party executive noted that after 26 years of active service within the NPP, he believes he has acquired the experience and leadership qualities needed to strengthen the party’s structures, reconnect with the grassroots and contribute significantly to the rebuilding efforts of the party.
“I write with gratitude and a deep sense of duty to formally announce my intention to contest for the position of National First Vice Chairman of our great party,” he stated.
According to him, his aspiration is anchored on the conviction that unity, commitment and renewed determination will be crucial in restoring the party’s fortunes and returning it to government in 2028.
Nana B highlighted his long-standing involvement in the NPP, tracing his political journey from the polling station level to the national leadership of the party.
He revealed that he served as a Polling Station Agent during the 2000 general elections in the then Manhyia Constituency and later held positions including Polling Station Chairman in both Tarkwa-Nsuaem and Oforikrom constituencies.
He also served as a member of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency Campaign Team and Communications Officer for the Oforikrom Constituency.
At the student and youth level, Nana B served as TESCON President at both the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He also became a member of the Ashanti Regional Communications Team, served on the party’s 2016 Ashanti Regional Campaign Team and later rose to become Director of Events and Programmes for the National Youth Wing before eventually serving as National Youth Organiser.
His political experience also extended beyond Ghana when he served as Vice Chairman of the International Young Democrat Union (IYDU).
At the national level, Nana B has held several strategic positions within the party, including serving as a member of the National Communications Team, the party’s 2020 Presidential Election Petition Legal Team, and both the 2020 and 2024 National Campaign Teams.
He currently serves as National Organiser of the NPP and is also a member of the party’s National Steering Committee, National Executive Committee and National Council.
Additionally, he served as Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2025 National Delegates Conference.
Describing himself as “Bold, Fearless and Experienced,” Nana B appealed to party members to support his bid and pray for the success of his campaign.
“I respectfully and humbly seek your prayers, guidance and support as we embark on this important journey together,” he stated.
