Parliament on Wednesday July 8, paid glowing tribute to the late Ernest Yaw Kumi, marking the first anniversary of his passing with heartfelt reflections on his life, service, and enduring legacy.
Members of Parliament from both the Majority and Minority sides of the House joined in honouring the former Akwatia legislator, whose death on July 7, 2025, was described as a profound loss to Parliament, his constituents, and the nation.
Presenting a statement in commemoration of the anniversary, Isaac Boamah-Nyarko, Member of Parliament for Effia, described the late MP as a committed public servant whose contributions to national development and parliamentary work continue to inspire colleagues.
He recalled the deep sense of shock and sadness that greeted the announcement of Hon. Kumi’s death a year ago, noting that his passing left a significant void in Parliament and among all who had the privilege of working with him.
According to Hon. Boamah-Nyarko, the late legislator distinguished himself through dedication, humility, and unwavering commitment to the people he served, leaving behind a legacy worthy of emulation.
He also extended sympathies to the bereaved family, the people of Akwatia, and members of the New Patriotic Party, encouraging them to find strength and comfort in the lasting impact of Hon. Kumi’s life and public service.
