A high-stakes robbery attempt at the home of a Court of Appeal Judge was narrowly averted late Tuesday night, by the swift reflexes and bravery of a police bodyguard on duty.
The incident, which occurred on March 3, 2026, left two suspects in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after a brief but violent confrontation.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., while the neighborhood was quiet, two young men identified by authorities as Patrick Alor (23) and Akwasi Gyamfi (21) allegedly scaled the fence wall of the Judge’s private residence.
Armed with cutlasses and scissors, the intruders made a move toward the Judge’s private vehicle, attempting to force it open.
However, they didn’t realize they were being watched.
The police bodyguard stationed at the residence spotted the duo and moved in to intercept them.
The situation escalated rapidly when the suspects, instead of surrendering, attempted to disarm the officer.
According to a statement released by the Ashanti Regional Police Command,
”acting in self-defense and in accordance with Police operational procedures, the bodyguard discharged his firearm, resulting in gunshot wounds to the legs of the suspects.”
Both Alor and Gyamfi sustained injuries to their legs and were rushed to the hospital.
They remain under heavy police guard while responding to treatment.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command, led by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, praised the officer’s professionalism.
The Police Command has reiterated its dedication to protecting the public and judicial officers alike.
They are urging residents to stay alert and report any suspicious movements to the nearest station immediately.
