The Ghana Police Service has arrested and interdicted a General Corporal in connection with the death of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo following investigations into an incident that occurred on the Tema Motorway on August 27, 2026.
The officer, identified as General Corporal Robert Koranteng, was identified and arrested after a video relating to the incident went viral on social media, prompting concerns over the circumstances surrounding the death of the young man.
According to the Police Service, initial investigations have led to the officer’s interdiction as efforts continue to establish what exactly transpired on the Tema Motorway on the day of the incident.
The interdicted officer is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter intensify.
The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken responsibility for investigating the circumstances surrounding Ivan Baidoo’s death.
The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has also been tasked with examining the conduct of General Corporal Robert Koranteng in relation to the incident.

The development follows the circulation of a video purportedly connected to the incident, which generated significant public attention and concern.
The Police Service said it is treating the matter seriously and is committed to establishing the facts through due process.
It assured the public that the investigations will be conducted thoroughly and that appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
