Tensions are mounting within the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Ofoase-Ayirabi Constituency of the Eastern Region following allegations that some polling station executives linked to Dr. Bryan Acheampong and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong have been disqualified ahead of the party’s polling station elections.
The controversy has reportedly sparked anger among sections of the party’s grassroots supporters, with claims that some executives perceived to be aligned with the two influential NPP figures were either removed from the electoral process or prevented from participating at the last minute.
According to the affected individuals, their names were allegedly removed from the list of eligible participants ahead of the elections.

Others also claimed they received phone calls informing them that they would not be allowed to contest or take part in the process because of their political affiliations within the party.
The development has heightened tension in the constituency, with some supporters accusing party officials of attempting to sideline persons associated with Dr. Bryan Acheampong and Kennedy Agyapong.
Aggrieved supporters say the situation threatens party unity and could deepen divisions within the constituency if not addressed quickly.
They have therefore called on the national and regional leadership of the NPP to investigate the allegations and ensure transparency and fairness in the conduct of the elections.
Some party faithful insist that the polling station elections should be conducted in a manner that gives every qualified member an equal opportunity to participate, regardless of the faction or political figure they support within the party.
However, the Ofoase-Ayirabi Constituency Secretary of the NPP, Awal Mohammed, has dismissed the allegations of bias and targeted disqualification.
Speaking to the media, he stated that the allegations being circulated by some party members were false, stressing that no one was disqualified because of their support for either Dr. Bryan Acheampong or Kennedy Agyapong.
According to him, the constituency inaugurated a vetting committee to assess all aspirants who picked nomination forms to contest and work for the party.

He explained that the outcome of the vetting process showed that some of the disqualified individuals had not actively worked for the party and were therefore deemed ineligible under the party’s guidelines.
He further urged party supporters to remain calm, united, and focused on strengthening the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
