Residents of Twifo Hemang, in the Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira District, are making an urgent appeal to the government to complete the local Agenda 111 hospital project.
The facility, which started under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration, is intended to serve as the district’s primary healthcare hub.
Currently, the area lacks the necessary infrastructure to handle major medical emergencies locally, forcing patients to be referred to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Hospital, a commute that can dangerously delay critical care.
The project is estimated to be 70% complete.
While the structural work is well-advanced, community members are concerned about the preservation of existing assets.
The site reportedly already houses essential equipment, including air conditioning units, leading to fears that continued neglect could result in the deterioration of these taxpayer-funded resources.
”The establishment of this hospital is vital for our survival.We cannot continue to rely on neighboring districts for basic secondary healthcare,” one resident noted.
In his response, Hon. Patrick Fiable, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Twifo Hemang Lower Denkyira, acknowledged the progress made so far but stressed the historical weight of the project.
He pointed out that the district has been deprived of a dedicated hospital since the constituency was first established.
